This week, I’ve had the joy to come ‘home’ to spend Spring Break with our family.
And I’ve also had the blessing to spend time with a few girlfriends that live out of state, but being home, it’s possible to squeeze in visits with them.

It was such joy to watch our boys play together too. I’ve known Heather since before MonkeyBoy was born, so to watch my 3 and her 2 together felt like a gift from heaven.

She’s my BFF…my Emmitt. (The term is from a Women of Faith we went to together years ago, but I don’t even remember the story of how it came about anymore. Lol!)
But we’ve always been there for each other, even if we don’t see each other much. And laughter is never far away when we’re together. Someday we’ll figure out how to take good selfie!!!
Spending time with these precious friends, especially since I don’t get to see them often, is like water to my soul.
I have realized over the week as I’ve spent time laughing, chatting, and soul bearing with them, that Girlfriend time encourages and refreshes me in such a major way. Hearing someone you love say ‘me too’ as you share your struggles helps peel way the layers of insulation you’ve built around your heart. It helps me realize how easy it is to coast through life with a smile on your face, but loneliness in your heart. And I’m thankful for girlfriends like Heather and Emmitt, among many others, who I can really open up to. Share my struggles. And not only have a friend say “Me too”, but “I’ll pray for you.”
I hope that you have girlfriends in your life like these. Because life, and motherhood is too hard to go through on your own.
And if you don’t have girlfriends like these in your life…give me a call.
I would love to have a girlfriend like you!
