This weekend I saw Bob Goff speak at his Bob Goff

This weekend I saw Bob Goff speak at his Bob Goff and Friends On Tour event.

Bob shared so many encouraging stories, words of wisdom and Scripture….I left feeling filled up, short a number of tears, and with a huge smile on my face.

This quote was one of many that Bob shared that reminded me of how I should be living…

Pouring out love to everyone around me. Pouring out joy, hope, peace, laughter. Not keeping them for myself, but letting it flow from me to others.

For years, I struggled with pride. I thought ever

For years, I struggled with pride.

I thought everything good in my life was because of me.

How hard I worked. How I parented. How I was gifted. My efforts. My talents.

As I grew in my faith and knowledges of who God is and who I am in Him, I came to understand that anything good in my life is only because of God.

His grace. His mercy. His love. His death and resurrection. His gifts. His hope. His joy. His peace.

Understanding this and turning my prideful thoughts to praises and gratitude to God changed everything for me.

And it can for you too.

Let’s boast in the Lord instead of ourselves.

Last night we got to experience one of our Christm

Last night we got to experience one of our Christmas presents…a Chris Tomlin concert!

Our son and daughter in law thought they were getting us tickets to a concert….instead it was the most beautiful church service worshipping Jesus with 2,000 other people for 2 hours! With a REALLY good worship leader!

Chris not only sang many of his worship songs, but he told incredible stories of how God has used his music around the world to bring glory to Him. It was an amazing time to see a ‘celebrity’ perform for no other reason than to give God glory. Nothing about the evening was about Chris…only God. The whole evening ministered to my soul, and I felt both poured out and filled up in the most beautiful way.

This was a small glimpse of what heaven will be like…and I have to say, it made me all the more excited for when that day comes!

In the busyness of life, kids, work and doing all. the. things…it’s easy to forget about the little things that make us smile. The things that bring us small joys. The moments that make our heart lighter.

I took a moment today at my Once a Month Spot to snap this picture (yay for sunshine!) and reflect on the last month.

It’s been the sunniest February I’ve experienced since we moved to Michigan. And I can’t believe the difference it’s made in my attitude, my mindset and my energy levels!

I’m so thankful for the many ways we’ve seen God at work in my family this month.

I’m thankful for adult kids who call me just to say hi.

I’m thankful for friends that I want to help plan baby showers with, visit at viewings as they grieve a family member, and bonus family that makes me thankful for the family of God.

It’s been a beautiful month.

I had stopped doing so many of my routines the last few years, but my Once a Month Spot is one I want to get back to. Reflecting on how I’ve seen God at work in my life is an important way I practice self care. How I pay attention to my life.

Have you ever wanted something so badly and it just felt like God said ‘no’?

One thing for me it was a daughter to dress up and get matching outfits with. But His answer wasn’t ‘no’…it was ‘not yet’!

Being twinsies with my ‘bonus grandddaughter’ today for church felt like an answer to a long-desired prayer.

Friend, don’t give up asking God for the things you want. The things that you know will bring you joy. Bring you fulfillment. The things that will make you smile.

His answer might just be ‘not yet’. Don’t give up! Keep asking, keep praying!!
