Whole

whole world desk picHe’s got the whole world in His hands,

He’s got the whole world in His hands,

He’s got the whole world in His hands,

He’s got the whole world in His hands.

When I woke up this morning and read the word ‘whole’ for the Five Minute Friday writing prompt, I thought

???????????????

And then, as often happens….a song popped into my head.

It’s the one I’ve sung countless times with preschoolers over the last 20 years. (Did I really graduate 20 years ago from college?!?!?!?)

After you sing ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands’, there are then many different verses where you substitute the words ‘little, bitty baby’, ‘mommies and the daddies’, ‘you and me brother’, and on and on.

It’s a sweet song to sing with preschoolers.

But it’s also so, so true.

God has the whole world in His hands.

I believe it with all of my heart.

We are engraved on the palm of His hands,

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands (Isaiah 49:16)

and those same hands hold the world, and everything in it.

It’s an amazing visual of the power and loving care our Father has of us and His creation, the world.

Friend, whatever you are going through…God knows.

God has it in His hands.

He has you in His hands.

Safe, secure…..loved.

I hope this truth encourages you today.

I sure encourages me!

How can I pray for you today?

Shine On

  1. I love kids’ songs. Sometimes it’s easy to over-complicate things and I love how they bring me back to the truth that is simple but profound.

  2. Great reminder! It’s easy for me to sing songs like this to my boys without letting the truth of them really sink into my own soul. #69 on FMF this week.

  3. Oh yes. He’s got us in His hands. Ea challenge one personally and this crazy spinning out of control world.. or so it seems .. but He’s got it all in His hands!

  4. Yes and Amen! He truly does! I love that… and that He prompted you with a song! I woke up this morning singing “Jesus, Lover of my soul… Jesus, I will never let you go…You’ve taken me from the miry clay. Set my feet upon the Rock and now I know…I love you. I need you. Though my world may fall, I’ll never let You go…” MY world may seem like it falls sometimes – but HE is always holding it in the palm of His hand! Great post!

  5. I loved this song as a tween and teen. I also loved the movements we did with it in Vacation Bible School. It is a fun song with such an inspirational message. :)
