Can I just tell you that this picture is my life dream?
I don’t know if you experienced the joy of the show Parenthood (why did they end one of the best shows ever on TV?) but every week I watched the Braverman’s…and I was ball of emotions. Sadness, frustration, happiness, confusion….I felt them and more. This family, though fictional, resembles so many families I know. Loud, crazy, full of love, full of talking, laughing, the occasional argument, disagreement, strife, misunderstanding…but they ALWAYS came together, most especially if anyone in the family had a need.
I don’t think I’ve ever prayed so much during a TV show. Almost weekly, I would offer a prayer or two for my family as I watched the Braverman’s negotiate family life. And I shed more than my share of tears as I prayed.
And my prayer…every single time….was for my family to love each other and be there for each other like the Braverman’s. That someday, when there are (Lord willing;) daughters-in-law and lots and lots of grandkid running around, we would gather together for family meals like the Braverman’s.
The icing on that cake would be if we could gather in amazing weather and outdoor space like them!!! Who couldn’t enjoy a family dinner like this?!?!?!?!
Lord, will you please continue to work in my family, in the lives of the young ladies who will one day join the Crazy Mulvaney clan (and hopefully birth lots of gorgeous grandbabies!), and in their family’s lives, so that years from now, my whole family will gather together often and joyfully, sharing in each other’s everyday lives and the difficulties, challenges, and triumphs of our lives this side of eternity.
I was a late joiner to Parenthood but started watching after my sis introduced it to me. I agree such a wonderful show. I need to go back and watch what I missed in the beginning seasons. If only we all could be more supportive loving etc as the Bravermans were to each other.
Joining you from FMF. I love your post. I never watched the show, but I do love gathering with my family for special occasions and for no particular reason at all.
