Like Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTv Music Awards, kids will interrupt you no matter what you are doing!
It’s just a fact!
The best, documented ways to get your kids to interrupt you is to pick up the phone, sit down on the toilet, or sit down to eat a quick meal. 😉 Am I right mommas?
I have learned one trick that has significantly helped my youngest with his compulsion to interrupt me when I’m in conversation with another person. I can’t remember where I read it, but it was a Christian blog. Surprise! Lol!
I taught my son that if I am talking to someone and he needs my attention he should either hold my hand (I love this!!!) or put his hand on my shoulder if I’m sitting down. This is his ‘signal’ to me that he needs to tell me something. In turn, I put my hand over his to signal to him that I will talk with him when there is a break in he conversation.
This solution has helped him interrupt much less…when we remember to use it!
What things have you done to help limit your kid’s interruptions?
