After I wrote the post a few weeks ago about words of affirmation, it started to stir up something in my heart. And on Monday, I realized that I needed to make intentional efforts to use my words to encourage others more than I have.
And the seed was planted for #UseYourWordsWednesday.
On Wednesdays, I am going to plan a way to use my words to encourage someone else. It might be a card, a text, an email, a phone call…anything that God lays on my heart that day to use my words to encourage someone else.
Today I mailed a card to a sweet woman in my church that has been going through a difficult season of life. It’s actually been years of difficult seasons for her, and she shared a particular struggle with me this Sunday. I am thankful God placed her on my heart today. And I pray that my note will bless and encourage her, and perhaps inspire her to reach out to someone else to encourage them.
I don’t plan to blog about it weekly, but I will Instagram (click the link to find me on IG) and Facebook (have you liked the FB page yet? Click on the word Facebook to go to the page) pictures and descriptions of what God leads me to do on Wednesdays. Why? Because I need to be accountable! 😉 I know me…I know my short-term memory. 😉
But more than that, I hope to encourage and inspire you, my friend, to join me.
Let’s make Wednesday more than Hump Day…lets make it a day to encourage and inspire others!
Who’s in????
What a great idea! Thoughts about encouraging others always fall to the bottom of my “to do” list, running through my mind too late at night to act on them. Picking a day each week to be intentional about it should help.
Me too Gloria! That’s why when God whispered todo this…I knew if I didn’t schedule it for a specific day and tell others about it, it wouldn’t happen! I hope I can encourage you to stick with it!
Great idea!
My mom passed on to me her gift of note-writing and card sending. I’m obsessive about it. I send out a lot of cards and keep a monthly listing of who and why (I recommend doing this in your journal or day-timer or there is probably an app for it!) Not only will the recipient be blessed but you’ll get such a joy and blessing from the sending! I love the idea of #useyourwordswednesday I’m all in!
Thanks Susan! What a wonderful ‘obsession’ to have! I’m so glad you’re ‘in’ for #useyourwordswednesday!
