I’m amazed at how often when I see the Five Minute Friday word of the week, it brings to mind a song.
This week is no different.
As soon as I saw it, the children’s song “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” started ‘playing’ in my head. And as I allowed my mind to drift to see where God wanted me to take this post, I was swamped with thoughts.
Unrest in the world
Fair Trade Friday, that employs and empowers women around the world
A beloved friend leaving in 2 weeks to serve oversees for 3 years
Decisions in our country about who can marry who
A friend starting an organization to help rescue girls from trafficking
Gender identity ‘issues’ in the news
Changes in my ‘world’…end of the school year, end of my job
And…wow! I was overloaded with hope….and despondency.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by all the bad, and lose sight of the good, the hope.
But I need to train my eye, my thoughts, my hopes on the good and all is being done for God’s glory. Magnify Him, so that I can keep my sights set on what is important.
But as I think on the many things going ‘wrong’ in God’s world, He brings to mind so many things that are going ‘right’. The way people are working to serve His people around the world, people putting themselves in harm’s way to share the gospel, women buying jewelry to help women they’ll never meet..the list goes on and on.
And I need to focus on, join in the efforts, and pray for these good things that are happening to share God’s love across the world.
Will you join me in focusing on the good in the world? And in finding your hope in the Lord?
