If you’re anything like me, you have great intentions of praying more, but the reality is that it can be very difficult to know how to develop your prayer life. That’s why I’m so thankful for writers like Crickett Keeth and her new Bible study Before The Throne.
Before the Throne is an 8-week Bible study based on 8 Bible characters, how they prayed and how we can learn from their example. Crickett wrote this study during the early days of Covid lockdowns…a difficult time when we all needed more strength to endure living through uncertain times. What Crickett noticed was that all of these men in the Bible went before the Throne in prayer to seek God’s guidance and help.
And even though we often know that going to God in prayer is the best place we could be, it can be overwhelming to know what to say, how to be quiet before the Lord, or how we should approach Him. Before The Throne will guide you to understand how you can approach God in prayer.
You will be encouraged as you reflect on how Jesus, Moses, Jonah, Paul, and others went before the Throne of God in prayer. But what makes this Bible study so valuable is the depth of application to our lives.
Each week has 5 days of study, which are bite-sized chunks for you to not just learn about the facts of the Bible reading, but apply it to your life through reflection questions included each day.
There are also questions each day that are designed for group study (though you can certainly reflect and answer them on your own) and a leader guide in the back of the book. Each day also includes questions that will help you go deeper into the Bible as a whole, seeing how God’s story is woven together.
I was surprised to read in the introduction that Crickett has recorded videos for each week that are available for free through her website. What a valuable resource, especially for a group studying Before The Throne together! So often these types of in-depth teachings are an additional cost to a person or group participating in the study.
Finding strength through difficult times is something we’ve all needed to do over the last 2 years. I hope you have found strength in prayer, and even if your prayer life is flourishing, I know you will learn and grow in your faith as you work through Before the Throne.
